Okinawa Couch and Rug Cleaners was founded with a simple goal: to provide reliable, professional cleaning services that families can trust. Originally from Nepal — the country of the Himalayas — I moved to Japan in 2016. I bring the same dedication, resilience, and attention to detail that I learned growing up to every home I serve in Okinawa.

With over 3-4 years of specialized experience in deep extraction, stain removal, and fabric care, I understand how important it is to keep your home clean, comfortable, and healthy. I proudly serve local families and the U.S. military community, helping with PCS moves, housing inspections, and everyday cleaning needs.

Good to know.

Do you have base access?
No, we do not have direct base access. We will meet you at the gate, and you simply sign us in. It usually takes less than 5 minutes. Just let us know which base and which gate is most convenient for you during booking.
What is your cleaning process?
We use a professional 5-step hot-water extraction (steam cleaning) method. First, we inspect the fabric and pre-vacuum loose dirt. Then, we apply a specialized eco-friendly pre-spray to break down stains and oils, agitate the fabric to lift the soil, and finally use our high-powered extraction machine to rinse and pull the dirty water out. We finish by grooming the fabric for a uniform look. It sanitizes deeply and leaves the furniture damp, not soaking.
Do you repair tears, rips, or broken frames?
We specialize strictly in deep cleaning, stain removal, and sanitizing. We do not do structural repairs, reupholstery, or patch tears. However, cleaning the furniture first is always the best first step before getting a tear fixed, as it removes dirt that can ruin repair materials!
Can you remove mold and mildew from furniture?
Yes, we can safely treat and remove surface mold and mildew stains on couches, mattresses, and rugs caused by Okinawa’s high humidity. We use specialized antimicrobial treatments that kill the spores and remove the stains. However, if the furniture has severe, deep-rooted toxic black mold or the mold is on the walls/baseboards, you will need a specialized home remediation company first.
Do you charge extra for pet stains and urine treatment?
Unlike most cleaners on the island who charge an extra $30-$50 fee for enzyme treatments, we include standard pet spot and odor enzyme treatment for FREE with your couch, mattress, or rug cleaning. If the damage is extreme (severe saturation), we will let you know before starting, but standard pet accidents are on the house!
How long does it take for the furniture to dry?
Typically, couches and mattresses take about 4 to 6 hours to dry completely depending on humidity and airflow. We use high-extraction machines to remove as much water as possible, leaving it damp, not soaking.
What payments do you accept?
We accept Cash (USD or JPY) and PayPal. For base meet-ups, PayPal is highly recommended for a contactless and seamless transaction.
Do you offer a referral discount?
Yes! We love community word-of-mouth. Refer a friend on base — when they book and mention your name in the booking form, they get $10 off their first cleaning, and you get $15 off your next cleaning!
Why does off-site rug cleaning take 7-10 days?
Off-site cleaning involves a full immersion and deep-drying process to ensure all embedded dirt and odors are removed. Drying times can vary based on Okinawa's weather (especially during rainy season) to prevent mold or mildew.
Are your cleaning products safe for kids and pets?
Absolutely. We use eco-friendly, non-toxic, biodegradable solutions that are completely safe for children and pets once the furniture is dry.
